Overwatch Veteran's 6 Inc. ("OV6," "we," "us," or "our") is an IRS-determined 501(c)(3) public charity. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Donations: When you make a donation through our website, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your name, email address, billing address, and payment information. OV6 receives confirmation and donor details but does not store full payment card data.
- Email subscriptions: If you sign up for updates, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name.
- Contact forms and inquiries: When you email us or use a contact form, we collect the information you choose to share.
- Program applications: If you apply to one of our veteran programs, we collect the information requested on the application, which may include military service history, household information, and financial information necessary to determine eligibility.
Information Collected Automatically
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4, measurement ID G-54X34HKW76) to understand how visitors use our website. GA4 collects IP address (truncated/anonymized), approximate geographic region, device and browser type, pages visited, referral source, and on-site events such as donation-button clicks and newsletter signup intent. We have configured GA4 to retain event data for up to 14 months. Data is shared with Google as a processor under Google's Privacy Policy.
- Cookies: GA4 sets first-party cookies named
_gaand_ga_*to maintain a pseudonymous visitor ID. You can disable analytics by blocking third-party scripts in your browser, enabling your browser's "Do Not Track" or "Privacy" mode, or using browser cookie controls to delete or refuse the_gacookies. We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies, and we do not share analytics data with third-party advertising networks.
2. How We Use Information
- To process and acknowledge donations and issue tax receipts
- To send updates, newsletters, and impact reports to subscribers
- To evaluate and administer program applications
- To respond to inquiries
- To comply with legal, tax, and reporting obligations (including IRS Form 990)
- To improve our website and programs through aggregated analytics
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers: Stripe (payment processing), Google (Workspace and Analytics), and similar vendors who process information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of OV6, our beneficiaries, or others.
- Aggregated or de-identified data: We may share statistics that cannot reasonably be used to identify you (for example, in grant reports and annual reports).
Donor confidentiality: We do not publicly disclose individual donor information without permission, except as required for IRS reporting (Form 990 Schedule B is filed with the IRS but is not publicly disclosed for public charities).
4. Email Communications
If you subscribe to our communications, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by emailing info@ov6.org. Transactional emails (donation receipts, application status) will continue regardless of your marketing preferences.
5. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to comply with legal and tax requirements (donation records are retained for at least seven years), and to resolve disputes.
6. Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted internal access, and reputable third-party processors with their own security programs. No method of internet transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to retain
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
To make a request, email info@ov6.org. Residents of certain U.S. states (including California and Virginia) may have additional rights under state law; we will honor those rights to the extent they apply.
8. Children's Privacy
Our website and programs are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Third-Party Links
Our website may link to third-party sites (such as partner organizations, donation processors, or social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through a prominent notice on our website or, where appropriate, by email.
